![]() ![]() Sometimes old shit works better than new shit. What those Gov't and LE folks do with it after they get it is up to them. However just like LE Only ammo like Federal Hydrashok +P+, it's a decision by the manufacturer to restrict the sale. ![]() Heck used to be Ruger wouldn't even sell the hi-cap mags. This isnt always the case and may not be anymore with those manufacturers but I have been to those companies armorer schools as well and they make an effort to make the product better. The Mini-14 GB was LE and Gov't sales only. In the old days like some other manufacturers Remington and Mossberg come to mind the Police Magnums vs express and 590s vs 500s as an example LE products get more attention, testing, inspection, heavier components more durable componets, no changes or monkeying around in design and generally more care during assembly and fitting. I went to a Ruger Factory Armorer school and I'm pretty familar with the system and I sent all the rifles back so no bullshit on the defect I'm describing and I got pics. ![]() The ejector design is a little different in the ranch model in to change the ejection pattern to clear optics and the tolerances were stacked such that the ejector was cutting a channel into the bolt and in 4 or 25 rifles the cut channel went completely through the bolt and into the firing pin channel in some cases the channel was almost an inch long. The ranch models began exhibiting problems almost immediately which resulted in the entire batch being returned to Ruger and many parts being replaced. School Resouce.yeah every SRO had a rifle before every patrol deputy this was almost 2 decades ago. After years on the road we decided to replace them with new production ranch models and gave the GBs to of all people. We ran Minis GBs for years as a patrol rifle for select patrol folks a little before the patrol rifle came into vouge. I suspect its one of the last batch of GBs they made. I said "that is what you get for not going in the store with me to stop me!"ĮTA: It is a 197-xxxxx SN Indicating 2004 Mfr year. My wife gave me "the look" when I headed back to the car. I suspect the box is not the first original box - but a later factory service/return box as many LEO agencies have the guns serviced by Ruger, the box is a later style new box with a serial number (marker) that matches the gun. I haven't run into too many mini GBs lately that weren't really dinged up - so was glad to get this one.Ĭame with Box, two factory 20 rd mags. and you can get them to tell you if it was a from the factory folder. I bought the stainless for $499.99 (All were that price) All were in VG-Excellent condition and even the wood is very clean with very few marks. Mini14 GB: The com/dataProcess/serialHistory/ The website then gives one the model. There were a rack of recent Mini-14s turned in from Wisconsin State Corrections - About A dozen mini-14s, most were of the later variety but they had 3 wood stocked Minis. They had a bunch of LE trade weapons in stock. WIfe siad she would wait in the car while I browsed. I was heading home with the wife on I75 near Macon Georgia and stopped into the Clyde Armory Store near Macon. ![]()
